In the article titled “Introduction to digital image analysis in whole-slide imaging: A white paper from the digital pathology association", published at e-location 9, in Volume 10 of Journal of Pathology Informatics [1], the term “research” was miswritten as “investigation” on page 9, line no. 28, under the section 'Clinical/Diagnostic Workflow'.

The correct statement should be read as “There are basically three types of algorithm available currently in the diagnostic space: (1) FDA-cleared – FDA has determined that the commercially available product is substantially equivalent to another legally marketed algorithm for the same purpose as safe and effective. A premarket notification is referred as to 510(k);(135) (2) non-FDA approved commercially available – these products can be FDA registered for research use only; and (3) laboratory developed test – the algorithm is designed and used within a single laboratory according to the laboratory's own procedure."
